Pioneering Social Entrepreneur
Alan is one of the UK’s most pioneering social entrepreneurs. His incredible journey started after contracting a waterborne illness while volunteering in Nepal at the age of 22. Three years later he founded Brewgooder, the craft beer brand on a mission to bring one million people clean drinking water. In just 2 years Brewgooder is available in over 3000 places across the UK and has helped bring more than 60,000 people in Malawi access to life-changing clean water access.
In 2019 Alan was recognised by the Big Issue as one of the UK’s Top 100 Changemakers, and named the Entrepreneur For Good at the prestigious Great British Entrepreneur Awards and is a UBS Social Enterprise Ambassador.
His inspiring story includes helping convince, former president Bill Clinton, and Hollywood stars George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai to attend a glittering dinner in Edinburgh.Which became Scotland’s largest Business Awards raising thousands for charity. Further projects included convincing 9,000 people to brave freezing conditions in the largest sleepout ever staged to put an end to homelessness in Scotland.
