England's 2nd most capped rugby player & Motivational Speaker
Tamara Taylor is the 2nd most capped England player of all time, with 115 caps. She first played rugby as a 15 year old in a senior women’s club team in Henley on Thames, and after playing rugby for Newcastle University, where they narrowly missed out on the BUCS finals at Twickenham Tamara progressed through the England ranks.
Tamara was a member of the England squad for 4 World Cups, becoming a World Champion in 2014 and was selected as captain of England in the 6 Nations the following year. Tamara has been 6 Nations champion 7 times out of the 11 tournaments that she played in and last year was named in the ‘ITV Women’s World Cup 2017 Dream Team’ .
Tamara is now a full time rugby coach, and is working towards her Level 4 coaching award, which is performance coaching. Tamara is chairman of Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, and represented the England players as an RPA player representative from 2017-18, helping support the negotiations of full time professional contracts for the women’s’ players.
As the only female working for the community department in the RFU in the North of England, Tamara has extensive experience of working in a very male dominated environment for a long time. Tamara started playing rugby 17 years ago when it was still seen as a game for men enabling her to build a unique perspective on the challenges faced in those environments.
